There are lots of organisations in Australia that offer activities for young people, so why choose Wulguru Scouts? Scouts Australia’s age-related progressive program is unique – no other organisation offers such a diverse variety of activities and experiences across such a broad age-range. Children and young adults aged from 6 to 25 can join at any stage of Scouting and participate in a program that encourages them to grow through adventure by experiencing new challenges, making new friends, building confidence, taking responsibility for themselves, and being provided with opportunities to explore their own abilities and interests. Perhaps the most important thing, however, is that Scouts have fun!Scouting encourages young people to become well-rounded young adults who believe in their current abilities and future potential, who are well-equipped to face life’s challenges, who are strong leaders as well as effective team players, and who can make a constructive contribution to the community in which they live. The Scout program is based on the wisdom of over a century of Scouting experience from around the world, combined with a dynamic and contemporary approach which ensures that the program remains engaging and relevant to today’s youth, their families, and the wider community. Emphasising peace, education and understanding, Scouting transcends all cultural, religious, racial, political, age and gender barriers. Wulguru Scout Group not only welcomes membership enquiries from those with intellectual or physical disabilities, we encourage it. Our team of dedicated leaders want to give all children a great scouting experience.

In the beginning...

Wulguru Scout Group began its formation in 1976 with a small cub pack and

scout troop. At this time, scouts was a boys only movement.

This has changed in recent times, and our group now caters for boys

and girls from the age of 6-18.

We currently have approximately 50 members and dedicated leaders in all sections

of Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Venturer Scouts.

Recently our group has become a chartered group, which means that Scouts

Queensland recognises the contributions made by leaders and familes to be

accountable for our programming and functions as a group.

To the right is a picture of some of our members from each section recieving our

chartering certificate at the recent founder's day celebrations.

You may have noticed

that our webpage and camp shirts have somewhat of an iridescent green tinge to                                                                                            them. This is because every scout group in Kennedy Region has an allocated colour                                                                                        which identifies the scouts that belong to a particular group. Our group colour is,                                                                                            you guessed it, lime green. Wulguru Scouts and leaders embrace the colour and are                                                                                        quite proud of our bright green identity. We even have our very own mascot,                                                                                                  pictured to the right whose name is Wulguru's Extra Terrestrial, or WET for short. WET                                                                                        has some very wise words to share with our youth members and his picture is seen                                                                                        on the back of everyone's camp shirt to remind our members of his presence and to                                                                                      encourage them to strive for their best and acheive their best potential in scouts.
